TOURING BIKE BRAKE PADS
Okay - need to hear from fellow tour bike riders on this - -I have 11,400 miles on the clock on my 05 FLHTI- - the dealer said my rear brake pads have 70% remaining - - I'm kinda skeptical, because I heard of a general rule of thumb "replace every 10K" - - anyone get that many miles outta stock pads? Just curious - -Thanks..

Got 26K on mine right now and it's due. Take the right bag off to get to the brake pad, use a plastic ruler and if the friction material is.04 inch thick or less replace. The same is true for the front pads - be sure to replace on both on the front at the same time.

RE: TOURING BIKE BRAKE PADS
I thought I read somewhere many moons ago that Front and Rear Brakes should be applied equally (depending upon situaltions such as sand on road/cornering). That's how I try to apply mine. So if that is the recommended application of brakes; doesn't it stand to reason that my pads should wear out close to the same time?
