My wife would like to go from her '05 XL1200C to a SG. With the gas prices going nuts, and everything else going up, is any one seeing dealers coming down from the MSRP?
Don't need an '08, a new '07 would be nice.

They should hae come down on the 07's already. As far as them coming down due to gas prices, very unlikely. Gas is still cheap in the US in comparason to the rest of the world.

Alot of the rest of the world also pays their workforce a lot betterthan we do. Man,if the truckers do a formal strike we will all be on our knees.I doubt if you will find a new o7 street glide. That bike sells high for the same reason that cars are having rebates 0% interest etc. Now if you want a deal, buy a dyna. Some dealers may come off MSRP BUT IF YOU WANT A STREET GLIDE you will probably have to pay the price. Of course it depends on where you live, how far you have to go and how bad a dealership has to sell a unit.

You guys talk about deals on leftover '07s. My dealer hasn't had an '07 since last July. They just hired two additional salemen.

I just picked up my new SG. I had to wait two hours in line to sign the deal. I had 3 people ahead of me buying new hds, 6 more people in line behind me to sign. In fact, the sales manager decided to stay open past regular hours becausethey could get all deals done in time. I talked to the sales manager about sales. He said they were having a record month because of gas prices. I had to pay MSRP, but they waived all other fees. The dealer sold out of 2007s in August 2007. Some dealers knowhow tosell bikes, some dont.

I stopped at Capital City HD, Madison, Wi just today.

Big sign just inside the door, $2000.00 off MSRP on big twins. $1000.00 off all others

i still love that argument.....But if someone is dumb enough to believe it, then all the power to the dealers. Think about it:

Typical HD Bagger is $20,000.
Gas is currently $3.20 a gallon (approx for regular)
$20,000/$3.20 is 6,250 gallons of gas.

Your typical car get about 25 miles per gallon
6,250 x 25 = 156,250 miles of driving for the price of one HD Bagger.

I wish people (not you wbogley) weren't so friggin ignorant to think that by buying a $20,000 motorcycle they are somehow saving money on gas.

Its just plain stupid.

I was also in Madison, WI today at Capital City HD. Couldn't believe the sign, but asked them about it, and $2k right off the top. They were selling the crap out of them. I live in Central IL and am going to see if they will match that here. I doubt it.

Depends on how much someone drives really. I know in 2006 I spent over $12,500 in FUEL alone. This year I am sure I will be well over $15,000 in fuel alone because diesel prices suck. Lets not even talk about insurance and service. Modified Lifted Diesels drink some fuel. LOL
