Default Extended warranty and GAP

What has everyone done when purchasing a new bike? Have you gotten the extended warranty? If so, for how long. What about GAP, has most everyone got that as well?

I went to 4 years on the extended warranty. GAP would only be needed if you don't have much of a down payment on the bike. I put nearly half down so there was no need for GAP in my case.

no extended warranty no gap ins. extended warranty is a cash maker for the dealer at almost $2000.00 you would need a major failure after 2 years to make up for it.

Bought the warranty, put 50% dwon so didn't need the gap. If you're like most, minimum to no down - GET GAP. Guy at the local dealership didn't, totalled his new bike 60 days after buying it - complete with all the gear he'd financed in the deal...he's still paying for the bike, which was totalled.

I look at the warranty like I do insurance. I average 10-15k miles/year, and tour each year. Cheaper to have HD fix it on the road than pull it outta my wallet....

My brother lost his oil pump on his 06 ultra. Totaled his engine. Extended warranty paid for a new engine for $50. Get the whole 7 years because once you buy it you can't extend it.

No need for extended warranty. Hell I would want a new bike every few years anyway. I had to get Gap cause I was upside down on my trade in. In Colorado Gap is a flat $300

Got the gap and 7 year warranty. The way I see it is, I want it paid off if I total it and I am not a Harley mechanic.

I just want to ride it not work on it.

That is not true, unless they have changed it. I bought a 4 year warranty on my 2000. Close to the end of the fourth year, they sent me an offer to extend it 1-3 more years.
