Right now I run the Meztler 140 70 18. My understanding is that its a front tire. Is there a huge difference? Or is it just a "front" tire by size designation? What size is everyone else running? I switched to a chain so I could go plenty wider if I need a "rear" tire. Anyone know?

 

I'm running a 150 Metz....I know you can run a 160 with some beltguard trimming w/belt...with a chain you may be able to go 180??

I run the Metz 140/70/18 REINTFL.. thats reinforced for the rear... If yours says that then you are set...
They also list a 140/70/18 front tho...

 

Thanks for the info about the REINF. I'd like to go to the 150 or even 160 but I'm worried about how tall the tire will be. whats the sidewall profile on the 150 you run? I'm lowered by 2.5 inches too. I'm sure you guys know that run the 18's and the 21 they are already taller.

 

Ahh I saw the link to meztler thanks. Looks like the 160/60/18 might be the next replacement. Unless mine isn't the FEINFTL then I may switch out sooner. Still have to look when I get home.

 

I have the metz 160/18 on 4.25 rim. I had to remove the belt guard to do it. You may be able to trim the belt guard but I don't have that kind of patience.

If your rim is less than 4 inches you may have a problem with a 160 above 80+ mph

alright I looked and it is the reinforced rear I have. Now I can't remember how wide my wheel is. I know with that 140 my sidewalls are straight up and down not tucked in at all. I know its wider than stock. I will have to look at my paperwork its been over a year since I bought these. When i did I just brought it to the shop said I like those they ordered and didn't even talk about sizes.

I would like to run the 160 once I wear this one out. Thanks for all the info.
