Default making 6th gear more useful

I rarely use 6th gear - usually when I set the cruise at 75 or 80 and there's not much traffic.
Back in my very old dirt bike days, I used to tinker with my sprocket size. I would use fewer teeth on the engine sprocket if I would be needing some serious low end pull. It also worked to give me some power in the taller gears.
My questions are:
Have any of you used fewer teeth on any of your sprockets"
How has it worked? Did it give you some extra pull in 6th?
Any way to do this without having to deal with speedometer issues?
Where can different sprockets be found?
I run a pcIII which gives me more revs, great in 5th but it sure does not help 6th.

The only way to accomplish lower gearing without speedo issues is inside the primary. The only option there that I know of is the 30 tooth engine sproket. This eliminates the compensator which some mechanics don't recommend. However, if you add the IDS to your bike, some say the change is ok.

I don't know why anyone would want to cruise in 5th at 75 or 80 on the 07 bikes. Passing I can see it or evading, maybe. I guess if you are used to the high RPM of the older models when you only had a 5 speed I can see it. I know my 07 is ready to shift way before 75. To each his own.

I think there's a bunch of old ladies in here looking for something to complain about. My '07 runs fine in 6th anytime after 60. You guys need to read the post about the most recent Harley recall to really have something to worry about!

Do you have a Stage 1 upgrade on the bike? On my '08 RG I'm running a SE heavy breather with SE street performace slip ons, and 6th gear pulls pretty strong for me as low as 60 mph. Maybe you need more low end torque rather than different gearing.

I have found myself running in 6th at 50-60 mph, and feel I am not lugging it bad enough to hurt anything, but I dont do it for no extended period of time.
