i think there's a bunch of old ladies in here looking for something to complain about. My '07 runs fine in 6th anytime after 60. You guys need to read the post about the most recent harley recall to really have something to worry about!

I had a 96 Yamaha Royal Star and Yamaha kept telling us that both 4th and 5th gears were really overdrive gears not intended for hard acceleration, so if you were cruising in 5th you were expected to shift down 2 gears if you needed to pass.....never could figure out why any bike would need 2 overdrive gears. But one is kind of nice.
Now you let the cat out of the bag.

I am in 6th gear at 60 to 65mph no lug at all, some passing but to get out of way I down shift to 5th, it is an overdrive gear and bringing down the cruising rpm's is what it is there for!
theres a couple threads around about the evo 30 tooth and a higher tooth count clutch gear and changing the final drive pulley all have some downside but...... u get a bunch more go and coming off the line is unreal u do gain some rpm at 70 but still lower than the 5 speed bikes.
