First long Ride I ever did was from Killeen texas to Daytona Beach. By myself 1100 miles or so. I stopped only for gas and food. I left texas around 0600 and arrived in Daytona around 0300. Drank a beer in the thunder Gulch had a smoke and took a nap.

Great run. I like traveling solo. If I need to stop I stop.

Congradulations on your run sounds like the winger didnt hold you back too much. LOL I have a wing as well and Love that thing on really long trips. My wife sleeps all the way there and I get to put the miles behind us. Like being alone on the trip but at the destination I have company.

Good Story, Good Ride

1000 in 24 is do able on a well setup Touring Bike, 1500 in 36 starts to get a bit tougher, especially the last 250 - 300.

Keep bragging

Congratulations

Congratulations. I did the IronButt last summer. We went one way from NE Iowa to Eagle, Colorado. Then rode the mountains for a few days. The temp ranged from 47 to 105 degrees. It was an endurance test, and tests completed set the bar in one's life that we can measure other challenges by. Marathons, mountain climbing, writing a book, it's all in what you find rewarding. It was ridden with a good friend of mine and we can always look back on that say, "remember when we...". I would do it again, and we are looking at the next level of challenge(1500 miles in 36 hours). I actually think that would be easier. I do feel like I'm in an exclusive group that have made the ride.

Congrats to you.........but I see absolutely no reason to take on something like that???? Is it bragging rights??? Is it like standing on one leg for 24 hours??? I give up...someone enlighten me
I did an Iron Butt last year, only reason really was so I could chalk up one more personal accomplishment. At my age ( 54 ) I start thinking about things I haven't done but wanted to, things people tell me I'm too old to do but I do them anyway, etc. It really feels pretty good when you're done. When I got back home after the ride, I wanted to hug my RK, it's really taken good care of me.
