Use a set of RJ's Origanal's heat shields they look great and look as good as those chrome covers.

Mine work fine (07 Ultra). However, I had to have a mechanic get the things on correctly. Whoever engineered the things needs to take some extra classes..........

Yes, I was talking about the Kury chrome mid-frame covers, not the heat protectshields. I have a 07' SG. Just wanted to know if people were having problems with the side covers fitting properly after the install, and did you install the covers over all the wiring that is tied to the frame or cut them loose and then retie them after the covers are installed. Maybe putting them over the wiring + ties causes the side cover not to fit? I started to install them once but didn't want to pry up on the channel too much-it's tight and doesn't want to move . I was thinking about moving some of the wiring to the sides of the channel and cutting a little hole in it to be able to get at the screw with a screwdriver. I definitely like the way it looks on other bikes , but I don't want to do it if the side covers don't snap on all the way.
It seems that they could have made the piece easier to install + fit closer to the frame.
