I read a lot of post about how apes make your hands go numb, or that your arms get tired. My bet is that those that post that either have never ridden with apes, or did not get a set of bars that were right for them. I am 6'1", and weigh 300 pounds. I have 18" apes, and they fit me great. I do not have any issues with my arms, or my hands falling asleep. They are the most comfortable set of bars I have ever had in my 23+ years of riding. My hands fall naturally onto the bars, and they rest right at the height of my shoulders. Don't believe the hype...

I second what Papa Travis says....I have ridden out many tanks of gas without removing my hands from the grips. BTW--I'm also a new rider and have back problems but I'm comfortable with the apes.

Thanks Fellas...

Here's another one for ya....do the apes have to go straight up or can you roll them "back" a bit? I know I'm asking alot of "dumb" questions, but I want to be sure of exactly what I want as far as looks and comfort before I dump some $$$ in my ride...Thanks...

I have to agree, the guys who usually comment on Apes don't have Apes and only are going by what they think or hear say.

6'2" 250lbs. 16" apes fit me perfect. Went on my first long ride the last couple days with mine and I dont know how I ever had shorter bars. I tried the pull back "beach bars" a while back and they made my back hurt so bad I didnt want to ride.

Adjust them where ever it's most comfortable for you and don't worry about what it looks like. I think that's the key........

Just bought a set of Carlini 13" 1.5" diameter Apes for my 08 RK. Have to have it modified to fit the new FBW throttle control. I think the 1.5" diameter looks better on the RK since it has a beefy front end look.
