just got my tourpac back from body shop the guy charged me 325.00 to paint it from vivid black to black cherry pearl is that a fair price? i should have asked how much before he started

 

Did he use HD paint?

Sounds like a bitchload of money to me !! But I'm used to paying for basic black with a case of beer . I have friends in the bodywprk business!! But 325.00--thats a lot of money.

 

I would say so as it cost me almost $500 to do mine, which was a little of a shock to me. I gave the job to the same painter that did my inner fairing for which he only charged me $200 fo that.

 

A brand new one from Zanotti's is about 600 bucks delivered.

200 to shoot an inner fairing seems high; I paid far less for vivid black with fine silver flake.

For 350 did the painter dissassemble the TP and reassemble it after painting?

Bottom line: if you are happy with the job, move on, but ask for a price before the paint job.

Two things I learned about painters over the years (Especially Bike Painters)

1.) Don't go cheap

2.) Don't rush them

If you are happy with it then you got a deal. It was about half the price of a new one so I'd say you did good.

 

$325 is a steal. There is so much material involved with painting that if you don't or haven't painted you just wouldn't understand (not meaning you personally).

I picked up a pint of paint for a 00 Electra Glide Friday and it was $74.46. No clear, primer, tape, hardener, reducer, cleaneror sand paper.
