Clutch adjustment help. I SCREWED UP
Seems I stripped the threads out of the hole that the adjustment screw goes into. I have no idea how what 90 in/lbs feels like and this damnn new torque wrench obviously doesn't work. Is there an any way to fix this? Please help. I've had the worst luck trying this servicing stuff.

I thought the torque was applied to the lock nut. You turn in the adjuster until it just touches the rod....then back it out a half turn or so, and then tighten the lock nut....done deal. If you buggered up the threads inside the shaft....you may have a big problem.....unless you think a thread chaser could clean things up a bit....? I would start looking through the parts book, and see exactly whet you have to work with there. If its a removable end to the clutch shaft or not.

90 inch lbs is about what you would put on a standard screw driver handle snugging down a loose screw.
Most likely your torque wrench is set at 90 ft lbs. Much much higher value.
You can try removing the assembly and taking to a machine shop and see if they can salvage it.
But would probably be cheaper to buy a new part (s) from the dealer and have an experienced
tech help you with the re install.
Then either stop working on things, or take a non credit course in basic mechanics at a local
junior college.

I set it to 7.5 ft/lbs and yes I gave it a pretty good tug. That was what the conversion table I used said. At that setting I then tried one of the lug nuts on my car and it never broke free. Maybe it's me but I think its the wrench. I couldn't figure out how to hold the adjustment screw with the alan wrench and get a socket over the whole thing to then tighten the lock nut. I figured with the lock nut finger tight up against the stop it wouldn't need to turn much to the the right torque. The threads I stripped are in the hole not on the shaft of the adjustment screw.

But Ken.....that adjustment screw should not be torqued down.....only the lock nut gets tightened. I did more that I could count and never ever used a torque wrench. Just turned in the adj screw until it hit....back it out a turn, and lock it up w/lock nut. Is that what you did or no?
