My Zumo is left as the buttons are meant to be used with the left hand

Im slightly to the left and just below field of view so it's not in my face, but much higher than the speedo.

I mounted it on the left, but after a trip this past weekend I am considering moving it to the center. It was a little dangerous to change it while I was riding. I think it would be safer front and center.

Exactly! The way I figure it, if reaching to the center or the right were a better option, wouldn't H-D have mounted the turn signals, horn, high beamand other stuff in the center? With it mounted on the left, your hand is closer to operate it and closer to the bar if you need to grab the bar and the screen is closer to eye level so you maintain better vision of the road while glancing at the GPS. I used the mini Techmount http://www.techmounts.com/products/in combination with a mounting plate and power cable from the HD handle bar mount part #92321-06. That gaveme a clean GPSinstall on the lower part of the handlebars with both power and audio capabilities through the AUX plug on the radio. When I park the bike the GPS is easily removed for secure storage or cleaning.

I should be receiving my eBay windshield pouch any day now. If all goes well, I'll butcher it up and my GPS will be inside the center pouch. Sounds silly but if it works I'll show ya what I mean. If it doesn't, forget I ever said anything.

I've got mine on the right witha RAM mount because the Sirius receiver is on the left side.

I can see it better on the right side but can't change things as well as I could with my free left hand.May change it back.

Mine is mounted on left handle bar towards the fairing just above the fuel gauge - kinda hard to see the mount in pic but should give you the general idea - out of the way but easy to glance slightly left to see and wife can see over my shoulder if I need her to help.

I have the Zumo 550, it really doesn't matter where you mount it if you have Bluetooth capabilities. Pair it with your helmet and you never have to look at the screen.
Just my 2cents on safety
