I got the chrome bezels for my gauges, and I noticed they included some kind of double sided tape rings to install them. I thought they went on with clear silicone?
Nope. The tape is the thing.I cut mine into small strips and was real careful applying it. The stuff is sticky. Nota realhard deal to install on the large gauges but can be a little tricky on the smaller ones.
I used the tape that came with the gauages. Some on the forum have used silicon in place of the tape. So far after one year, I've not had any problems with just tape.
I have concidered these as a way to dress up the dash but, always thought that the stock ones looked pretty shiny. Do the chrome ones make a real difference? Any pictures? The ones in the catolog don't seem to showmuch improvment. Thanks for the replys.
The tape works well on a new install. I had to change my fuel guage last year and put the old ring on the new guage with silicone. Either way, no problems.
When I installed mine I attempted to use the tape provided but since I seemed to waste some with pulling off the paper, I used some doubled sided tape, 3M I believe, on a roll in a dispenser that I had. I placed 2 sided tape on the back side of the bezels at 5 points and I never had a problem in 2 years.
