Default throttle fix....

Last weekend I installed chrome hand controls and everything went well. Last Friday night was the first time to ride it on the highway. I discovered that with the cruise control on I can no longer turnthecruise control off by either manually accelerating or deceleratingthe throttle. What did I do wrong?

I've never had to doit, but I read in my service manual that sometimes when you've had the controls apart it may be necessary to re-set the cruise control lash, whatever that means.

Cruise Control Cable Lash Initialization
For Harley Touring Models

1.) With the Ignition off, push the right cruise switch to RESUME and hold it there.

2.) Push the left cruise on/off button to ON.

3.) Turn on the ignition switch and start the engine. The GREEN ENGAGED light will illuminate
for three seconds and go out. When it goes out, release the RESUME switch.

4.) With the bike still running, push the right cruise switch to RESUME again and hold it
while the unit pulls in the slack in the cable. When the engine revs up a bit and the green
light goes out again, release the RESUME button and turn the ignition switch off.

Ever tied the Tri Flow Spray to lubricate the cables that a lot of the HD dealers sell, Its some badd *** lubricate. I've used it for 30 yrs. Its great on locks too.
