Default Where to buy your gas...

Interesting reading. This is an excerp from this article.[/align]
Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends.

I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil.

These companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell........................... 205,742,000 barrels

Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels

Exxon /Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels

Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels

Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels

Citgo gas is from South America, from a Dictator who hates Americans. If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION! (oil is now $90 - $100 a barrel

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco..................0 barrels

Conoco..................0 barrels

Sinclair.................0 barrels

B P/Phillips............0 barrels

Hess.......................0 barrels

ARC0....................0 barrels

If you go to Sunoco.com, you will get a list of the station locations near you.

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

I still scratch my head over this...

I live west of Atlanta, Georgia and close to a major tank farm that supplies all the gas for stations in the area. Everyday I see tankers loading for most of the names on the list above (a couple of them are not in our area). I also see "non-brand" tankers picking up fuel and making deliveries to area stations as well.

Since our area has only two underground pipelines coming in, how do they keep straight what gas comes from what country to make this claim???

What about Irving?

Around here, most stations are only 91 octane. But Mobil/Exxon stations are the only ones that still offer 93 octane.

They don't keep the pure gas straight. It doesn't matter where the refined gas in whatever grade comes from. It can be Shell, Mobil, Conoco or whatever. Its sold as a bulk commodityto these centralized depots. What makes the gas Shell, Chevron or whatever, is the additive package that's a proprietary formula and dumped in the truck just before the gas is dropped into it. Those tankers also have up to three seperate sections in those tanker trailers, so its even possible an independent contract carrier (generic trucks) is carrying up to three seperate brands of gas in the one truck. That's why ou might see the same truck deliver gas to Amoco, Cheveron and Racetrack on the same run. Its just three independently formulated gasolines getting dropped into each station.

Every BP station I see says AMOCO fuels so something is wrong with that breakdown.
