Default CD/Radio Warranty Work

Anyone have any experience with warranty work on an 05 radio/CD player? Mine started skipping and switching form CD to FM to Wx, CB wouldn't unlock, etc.

Don't wanna "send it out"....seems a straight replace would be in order?

Had a friend with a problem one, but it was a few years old. They wanted to send it back for repair or rebuild. Seems to me it was around $125.00. I think you could push for a direct exchange, especially on an '05. Hope you are good friends with your dealer, and good luck. Interested in the outcome.

thats what radio sound will do. if the bike is under warranty you have no cost. they dont repair your unit while you wait. they just send you a replacement unit. yours ends up on the shelf repaired that someone else will get.

I posted this same question and got little response - https://www.hdforums.com/m_250827/mp.../tm.htm#250827 hope you do better... I have an 04 (2/29/04) took mine in last week for the "skipping" my HD just ordered me a new radio - we will see what happens... At first they tried to say "well, its a Cd in a motorcycle" my response was (Ya, but with what HD charges for that - it should work or Don't offer it" 99.99999% of the time my Dealer is 110% great - and this was NOT an attitude problem, just banter between the Service Mangager and me...

I would have prefered a response from HD abou the skipping problems - but bottom line - new radio...

Has anyone had any dealings with HD on the tape players? I just got my Dad an 05 FLHTCI. He's not one to listen to CD's much, so I jacked the CD out of his and put it in mine. My tape player chewed one up though, and it's not worked since. Any idea what the charge might be to have HD send it back, and get a reman, or have this one fixed? I hate to leave Dad with nothing but a radio. Of course with him, if I could find and 8 track, I'd put that in.

Same deal as with the CDs. Send it back. Pay your money. (I am assuming that any tape deck would be out of warranty) Wait. Radio Sound will rebuild it.

Went through this when the outer spring loaded door on my cassette player part of the radio broke on 1 side.
Was told by Radio Sound, it doesn't matter what is wrong, must remove the radio and ship it to them. The price was $125.00 and the radio would be repaired or replaced at their choosing, not mine.
I pleaded for them to send me a new outer door as I have the ability to replace it myself. No Deal.
Luckily I had the small pin and spring which came out when the door broke. Super Glued it to the back of the door and saved myself a r&r(remove & replace) of the radio and $125.00.
Consider that amount a rip off for just needing the outer door assembly.
