Putting a backrest on your bike will indeed make you wuss!!! I know that for a fact as I have had a backrest for many years and I'M A WUSS!! :-)

Go for it, you won't regret it. I'm 58 and I love to ride but I like to do it in comfort so I can enjoy every minute of the ride. It's no fun when you are aching.

 

You said it yourself....your 49. I ride with a backrest and can't imagine riding without one. It's just plain common sense to ride with as much comfort as you can. 6 hours hell....30 minutes is too long for me. Stick with the backrest and enjoy the comfort you paid $20K for. If all else fails....buy a removable one and go that route.

We are not getting any younger and our bodies will tell you when you make a mistake. Ride without it and see if your back doesn't talk to you.

I'd say that if you use a RIDERS (not drivers) backrest, you will be the biggest wuss around. But to help you out of your predicament, I will gladly buy it from you to help you save face amongs your friends, and to help me save my back. LOL.
I wouldn't care what everyone thought. To enjoy the ride, you need to be COMFORTABLE. The riders backrest will make your life and ride just that.
I'm looking to buy one for my "06 Ultra". That's one accessory you can say that money was well spent on.[sm=biker.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif]

 

I use the stock seat and standard backrest along with a Hartco (think that spelling is right) sheepskin cover on my 05 Ultra and couldn't be more happy with it.

 

Guys, I bought the Sundowner Solo a few months ago thinking there was a backrest that was available. Apparently not! The Solo simply doesn't accomodate a backrest made by HD. Does anyone know of an afermarket backrest or some kind of improvisation I can use to adapt a backrest on my RKC with SUndowner Solo?

 

I have a backrest on my bike, first with the stock seat and now with the mustang, I have some back problems and I love the back rest, helps a ton, now let them call me a woose [sm=chairshot.gif] and I'll get some of my non stoved up freinds to take care of ya , come to think of it, I don't have no non stoved up freinds, there all like me.

 

I couldn't use the stock seat.......got tail-boneitis, with it. Bought the mustang regal touring one piece, expensive but really makes the Custom stand out, plus with the Harley back rest, it makes for a real nice combo for all day riding.

 

Comfort does not make one a wuss, only wise. I ride with one. I'm a big boy and if someone thinks I'm a wus, I believe I can prove them different.

 

This is the only way that you'll look like a Wuss!!
