Default chrome inner primary

I keep talking myself out of doing this mod because of issues with leaking seals, etc. It looks so cool though!

I just don't like the look of Kury's cover so that is a nonissue.

Can I get some feedback from folks who actually exchanged the inner primary? Are the leak issues real or just occasional? Would you do it again? My service dept always talk me out of it-they have seen some problems.

I just want to make a decision before I do the 5000 mile service.

I did it myself about 15000 miles ago. Works like a charm and no leaks.

I put the Kury chrome inner primary cover on mine and I honestly like the look of it. You get the look without the expense and running the risk of the leaking you speak of. Just my .02.
Like all mods, some folks like them..........others don't.

I don't care for covers vs. chromed parts, reminds me of sprocket covers that can come loose and create havoc (of course the inner cover can't). 20,000 miles later on the HD chrome inner cover. no leaks bro...

My buddy had the HD one installed by a dealer about a year ago on his SG. Looks great and no leaks so far.

Hey rde...

Nice looking ride! I changed my inner cover on my new Fat Boy at about 500 miles...had the dealership do the work just in case of the problems you described. Have over 2,000 miles on it now and I have not leaked a drop of fluid! I keep checking to bottom of the cover along the seal line and looking for the tell-tale spot on the floor. The mod looks great and makes a huge difference. I agree about the Kury cover...I just don't like their stuff! I think it's a good upgrade!

Good luck...

Steve

I put the chrome inner primary on the Superglide 3 years ago and never had any leak issues. It was an easy job and the new primary comes with seals and bearings already pressed in. My original primary cover had a leaking seal and I just decided to replace the whole inner primary with a chrome one since I had to take it all apart anyway to replace the seals.
