I am looking at getting a luggage rack for the back of my 08 flhx. I have the detach backrest from harley and looking to use the luggage rack to hold a bag on. I thought i saw one somewere that mounted to the backrest so if i took it off the luggage rack would come off too with no extra brackets. Any info

I've never seen that. But, you can get a detachable luggage rack. It mounts to the same rail that the detachable backrest sets on. It is just two more bolts on the rail. The luggage rack attaches and detaches just like the backrest.

thanks dawg i dont need extra mounting hardware on the bike with that do it just mounts to the sissy bar right.

 

Yes, it mounts directly to the sissy bar. I've loaded mine down and it's never been a problem.

Here's the rack that attaches to the detachable backrest - works well, looks great. Covers up the ugly welds on the backrest. Not the best angle on the pic, but perhaps you can get an idea of what it looks like.



As an alternative, you can use this two-up detachable luggage rack with the detachable backrest (not shown). This uses both sets of detachable hardware.
