Get the service manual and do it yourself. You can do it all in the driveway. A torque wrench is recommended for the checking the critical fasteners. Document the service in your owners manual and keep the receipts.

The dealer will always tell you that you must have them to do it or your warranty will not be honored. It's all a scare tactic. Do it yourself.

The dealers make so much money on the service intervals it's crazy. You can do all of it yourself for a fraction of the cost.

Default RE: 1000 mile service / warranty??

I have heard other stories of people wanting the dealer to put in synthetic oil and they only recommend the Syn3. I personally want to go with Mobil1 Vtwin and I have heard of dealers saying they either won't do it, won't recommend it or want stand behind it. Personally, once the oil is in there, I am the only one that knows what kind it is, but I don't want to have them do the service, use their oil and then I dump it 500 miles later for my Mobil1. I would rather spend the money on the service manual and do the entire initial service myself with the fluids I want. I am more than capable of doing the service myself (probably more thorough than the dealer) and would like to get the service manual anyways. This just gives me a good reason to get it now. I didn't think it would void the warranty but I wasn't 100% certain and wanted to get you guys experience.
