I usually wear a 1/2 shell, allthough I do have a Shoei RF-1000 full face and the last time I wore it, I lifted the visor and a damned yellow-jacket flew in and stung me back behind my eye. Thats not the first time either, to get stung with a full face.

 

I've worn a full face for 35 yrs now. Saved my jaw once in a head on with a Mercury. I know they're not for everybody- just figure it's good insurance for me.

 

full face flip-up for long rides (50 miles or more from home)...around town (novelty)

 

Shoei RF 1000. Fitsand vents well. After skull fractures and head trauma with a novelty, I owed it to myself to try something with more protection. Its not nearly as bad as I thought it would be although I have yet to ride in warm weather with it. It certainly is a long ways from the days of just putting a baseball cap on.

I used to wear a Bell EuroStar (true fullface) but replaced it with a Nolan N-102 Mudular (flip-up). Started out (~39 years back) with 3/4.

 

I've worn everything from a doo rag, novelty, DOT 1/2, 3/4 and fullface over the last 37 years. I now wear an Arai FF because I got tired of getting hit in the face, drinking rain water, and being sun and wind burnt after an all day ride. When I am on the training range I use an HJC 3/4 for demo rides. ATGATT

I have an HD modular full face that I got over the winter from a guy at work who sold his bike. The helmet is practically new, and works great for the riding I've been doing in the past two weeks, where the temps have been between 40 and 45 for the most part. I can't imagine wearing it in the heat of the summer, though.

I have an old Arai 1/2, and I do mean old --I've been using it for over 15 years, and it was used when I got it (it belonged to a friend's father who had passed on).Iintend to replace it soon, as warmer weather is not that far off, even here in New England. I want another1/2 shell, but I want it to be as small and light as possible and still be DOT certified.
