Default Question of Rush Muffler install with FuelMoto kit

Okay, just got my Fuel Moto kit installed on my '08 Road King. After a little trouble with software recognizing the PCiii and finally getting that resolved, test drove her today. Sounded and pulled great!! When I got back and checked everything, I noticed one muffler had somehow slid back about an 1/8", even though the muffler clamp was tighter that sh-t!!! I rermember other guys complaining of the same thing, but can't find it now when I searched! Is there a remedy for this??

Thanks again. The input from you guys helps me about weekly!

Make sure your clamp didn't bottom out on ya....If it did use your original clamps if you bought new ones... I have a buddy that had your peoblem he used shim stock and cut out shims to fit the clamp and wala it tightned up and you can't see it....

I used the original clamps, because I did remember someone saying the same thing. I doesn't look like the clamps bottomed out, it looks like I have a little more room to go, but damn, the things are tight! I could probably go a little more, but I worry about breaking the clamp. At 6'5" and 240, I can turn a wrench, believe me. I have a tendency to ovetighten and break stuff

I used my original clamps and used a 1/2 drive to tighten them up I must admit I thought I might break the bolts but I didn't.... I am like you 245 Lbs and put the old **** right to em didn't break and have had no problem with them moving...

After a few days, my left side clamp (bought new clamps when I got the Fuel Moto Kit) came loose and the left muffler slid all the way back. While torquing the clamp back on, it broke (the clamp not the bolt)at less than 50 lbs. Must have been defective. So I put on one of the stock ones and have had no problems since. No silicone and no leaks on either side.I think you have to make sure you have the clamp positioned so that it is just a little forward of the end of the header pipe inside the muffler. I think I had the left clamp a little too far stern when I did it the first time.

BTW - I love the power/torque/sound with complete the Fuel Moto Setup. Better than any of my previous bikes. A lot of improvement for the price.

Always use new clamps and use silicone when installing pipes, otherwise you risk the chance of your muffler(s) bluing.
