it scares me ta death ta think of sprayin something on top of that dirt and grit and smearing it around. here in FL i ride in down pours -why wouldnt ya wash with soap and water????????
For those that use rags or towels to dry their bike (I use compressed air) be sure to use only those cloths made of 100% cotton!!! Rayon or polyester or other man-made materials will leave swirl marks. Cotton threads are round and don't scratch. Man made threads are harder, and often flat and the edges will scratch.
I use the disposable Swiffer dusters (like for dusting the house), then Pledge. The Swiffer's work great to get dust off before cleaning and the Pledge works very well also.
I always use spray cleaner. If I wash it with water and then blow dry it I still have to use a cloth to wipe it down, so wiping it down with the spay cleaner I cut down the clean up time.
We wait for the rain as it is still against the law to wash my ride, still in drought mode here in Georgia. One of the main reasons I bought a Pewter Denim SG.
I use the Mr, Clean Auto dry. I used to use Pledge, but have been trying Meguirs spray wax and Quick Detail.
+1 for Mr. Clean Auto Dry. I also dry every part I can reach with a soft cotton towel. I follow with a coat of Auto Magic wax a couple of times a year. Vivid black never looked so good.
