Thanks BW. It just so happens that I do have reflective stickers on the left and right side of my helmet. I bought black reflective sheets and cut oval pieces to cover the white oval BELL logo that was on my helmet. Guess I am good to go. [sm=biker.gif]
I wrote this thread a long time ago and since I have been to Vermont with no issues with the law concerning reflective tape. In fact no locals I met up with knew about the law.

I'm more concerned with getting pulled over with a Non_DOT... NY state started a serious crack down last year...
VT is pushing a crackdown on non DOT helmets. They have been putting on trainings for LEO's that don't know anything about helmets, etc. For the most part, you can still get by with a non DOT helmet unless you run across a *****
It probably isn't much help, but that old "four square inches of reflectorized material" comes from the old '60s DOT mandate, when States were required to have helmet laws or lose Federal funds. I had a chickenshit cop write me for this back in '72 at 3:00 p.m. on a sunny day here in Colorado. I went to court, and long story short, the cop couldn't explain what "reflectorized" meant. Is there a standard, certain amount of light, visable at a certain distance? Isn't reflection of light on an object the process we see by. I know it's a hassle to fight out of state tickets, but that reflectorized thing is just harassment left over from the days when our government felt it was their duty to harass any one who didn't fit their sterotype of "citizen" or part of the "Moral Majority".
