Finally got my Fuel Moto set-up in and installed today. Got everything installed no problem and fired it up. Started right up and sounded good, but when I hooked up my laptop to the PCiii, it won't communicate! I've had one on a previous bike, so feel pretty well versed in how to use the damn thing, but nothing. Can't set the throttle position, and can'tven get the preloaded map to show!!???! What the hell?? Is thing defective, or do I am having some brain lock-up!! !@#$%^&*()(*&^%$#@!@#$%^&*(&^%$#@! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, did I mention that I noticed the front right header pipe was starting to turn gold, which I guess means it was running too hot and lean, which means it was probably NOT running off the pre-loaded map!!

are you running the most current PCIII software on your laptop (this happened to me once) ??? or are you using a software version that you used on a previous Power commander ?

 

The program is probably there. I haven't figured out why yet but my PCIII won't communicate with my Desktop yet works fine and accepts all communication,etc. from my wife's Laptop. Only difference I'm aware of is her PC is Vista Home Basic, mine is Vista home Premium. You will need the latest software update from the website or included CD. The version in my power commander was a couple versions newer than the older stuff on the laptop from my 04 Road Glide tuner. They didn't seem to speak the same language at first.
Contact fuelmoto on the golden yellow pipe asap. I ran my bike 1000 miles last Fri-Sat-Sun after installing the exhaust on Thursday and mine turned pretty dark. I checked, the program is there and it is not lean. About 31-32 mpg worth of not lean. After contacting fuelmoto, they got back to me immediately and are sending out a new muffler shell and a return tag for this one. Jamie said it was most likely some bad chrome. I know it happens from time to time and there's really no way to know of a bad or contaminated chrome batch until you heat'em up,then it appears quickly on mufflers at the high temp points.

Are You running Vista or XP on your PC? I had the exact same problem with Vista. For some reason Vista does not play well with some Applications that use a USB interface. I had to go back to laptop with XP to get my PCIII to communicatate to the PC.

 

Thanks guys!! I was running the software on my new laptop with Vista, so I ran and gleefully grabbed my wife's laptop running XP....RAN to the garage, all excited, plugged it in, turned the key...............

And you guessed it, still nothing. Still NOT COMMUNICATING!!!

I recently installed my package from fuel moto........pc111, supertrap se pipes, and K&N filter.
I'm running vista on my laptop and I was able to set the throttle position with no problems.
I hooked up the battery power to my power commander when doing this.

 

Man, Sorry to hear that did not due it DeputyMike.. The only other thing I can think of is maybe you got a bad USB cable with the PCIII Kit.. I would bet that when Jamie sets these up at his shop he just uses the same cable over and over from his PC and does not unpack the cable that comes in the box.... You can get a new USBwith the mini end at Radio Shack or Best Buy... If that does not do it, I would agree with you, sounds like the PCIII you have might have a bad interface port. Good Luck,, nothing sucks worse then getting something new that does not work.

Thanks all you guys! After peeling myself off the ceiling and trying the softare on my wifes computer, I tried installing the software from Powercommander's website. You guessed it. IT WORKED!! SO thanks, now I can relax...

One last question...Any of you guys with an '08 and Jamie's map...any popping on decel? Mine was popping a bit getting off the throttle in the garage....

I put the fuel moto set-up on the other day and had popping and backfire on decel and at let off when shifting. Reset the trrottle value and it cleared it up some but still have qiute a bit. Let me know if you get a fix.

 

What type of bike do you have? Yeah, shouldn't be popping...Map need to be richened up a bit at the lower values....I am going to talk to Jamie...
