440 springs are the way to go. air shocks always leak and could never hold pressure.

Hey Creepy, I still have the 412's. They have about 500 miles on them. I weigh about 185. I have a bad back, so I need a softer ride, but I like the look of a lowered bike. Tough finding the right combo when there's so little room to play with. Creep, sent you a pm.

Me either. I ride solo and haven't checked the air in years. Mine rides smooth for my 175 pounds.

Mine have never leaked or even lost air pressure, but I only ride with 4-8 pds. I just put my stock 13's back on after trying the Progressive 412's. The 412's were just too stiff for me and if I lowered the setting things would bottom out. After putting the stockers back on the ride seems much smoother and more comfortable, but now my bike looks like a stink bug as I lowered the front when I put on the 12" 412's! I want to try the Ultima 12" air shock, but can't seem to find much feedback on the ride quality.
I don't run any air in mine so dunno if they leak or not??
Harleykris, did you sell the 412's? How big of a person are you?

1st offo THANK YOU for all the good info. Really appreciat it.

If I were to try springs, what is the difference between the 440's and the 412's? And who makes them or should I ask, where do I get them?

One thing to consider as an inexpensive alternative would be a set of factory Street Glide air shocks. They are 12 inches and hook up just like your original ones. I have them on my Ultra and it brought the back down the one inch that I needed. As for the pressure and bottoming out? I ride solo with about 10-15 psi and two-up with about 35-40 and haven't had any problem. The shocks will bottom out before the tire hits the fender, so if you find the right air pressure for your load, you should be fine. As for the leaking issue? I had my Ultra sitting from late November until about 2 weeks ago without checking it. I took a look as I was leaving one morning and they were still up to the 35 psi I had left them at, so I can't confirm any leaking problems with mine at least.

Sorry, but this statement is Grade A horseshit. I've never had a set of air shocks leak either on my bikes or other vehicles. Can they leak? Sure. ALWAYS leak? Not mine.
