Default Radio in EG-standard

Hi Everyone,
Nice day in wisconsin today and was able to get out for a few miles.
ANYWAY!!
The wifes EG-standard has a cheap radio in it with Pez's speakers and I wanted to put the Sony unit in it with the control unit for her handelbar controls. Is there a special marine grade radio for rainy situations. Does anybody have the model#? What was the first year for the Harmon Kardon?

Many HDFers, myself included, use the Biketronics interface unit that allows the EG handlebar controls to operate Sony and other headunits; Dawg gave you the part nos. Here's their website:

http://www.biketronics.com/generic7....FHBMWPERWRJPX0

You can see the interface unit in Glide Man's recent post on his stereo install.

Sony and others make marine headunits that are the non-marine version of the same headunit with a coated circuit board. A true marine unit is too big to mount in the space provided in the inner fairing. You can see a helluva lot of headunits at Crutchfield.com, including marine units.

I got my sony CDX-5710 stereo ,rain cover and mounts from biketronic's,hogtunes from pez front and rear,my bike doesnt have thumb controls so no interface, when i bought this stereo from biketronic's it came with a plastic sheet, cut to fit the top of the sony and it was to waterproof the top of the radio from any water getting into the fairing,It's been in 3 years now, never a problem with water, just pop the rain cover on if washing or riding in the rain, still going strong and works great

Well Thanks for your replys. I'll look into the cdx-5710 unit.
Biketronics price just seemed a little steep considering the GT-520 sells for $110-$130 retail.
any thoughts!!!
