RE: ISO grips
I little black on my hands after a ride wouldn't turn me away from what may be the most comfortable grips on the market. I had one set on my old RK for nine years and never for a moment was hand discomfort an issue. My butt hurt, the sun was too intense, too hot, too cold, and a variety of other issues cropped up during rides through 33 states, but never were my hands given a second thought. I didn't use gloves in warm weather until last summer, when I started wearing sunblocker gloves from www.coolibar.com.
I believe the black residue comes from oxidation, mostly a result of the sun's UV rays, and I've had little trouble with the black-hand syndrome. Each time I wash the bike I use Armor-All on the grips, which as most know is a plastic and rubber preservative with UV protection. No, it doesn't cause them to become slippery, but I don't leave copious quantities of Armor-All on them. I spray it on, let it sit for five minutes or so, then wipe it off.

RE: ISO grips
I have em on my '04 glide and for about 36000-38000 no prob at all. Then after getting caught in the rain a few times started having problems on left grip more than right, but both would black hands. Cleaned them with windex and wipe them with Mcguires leather wipes when doin normal clean up. Seems to have abated so far. I think that rain/water from road surface gets to them because of oil/chems brought up with road water. [:@]
