Rider seat back for 2 piece RK seat?
Hi, all...
I'm 6'4" and my budget restricted me to a used bike.... 4 months ago, I got an 00 Road King (first bike).
I like the bike fine, but my height makes a problem at highway speeds. Once I get above 70mph, the turbulence off the windshield buffets my helmet all over. I find myself slouching in the seat quite a bit, which hurts my back after an hour or so. My intended use for this thing is to go visiting on long weekends.... 6-10 hours one way.
1) I'm not sure a taller windshield is available... and they are expensive.
2) I can get a rider backrest for the one piece seat, but I'd have to buy a one piece seat... now we're talking $700 plus with the $200 back rest.
I have the two piece seat with the studs (or buttons or whatever they're called) on the edges. I'm told it was stock for that year.
Anybody have any ideas or places to look? My next step is to fabricate something on my own, which is certain to look like..... well, let's just say it'll look like something I fabricated. =
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Beat feet to the classified section. There's a Sundowner with gel insert that should work. It won't last at $125! Then get a backrest whenever someone posts it, or look on ebay. No need to spend $700.
Cross check the model # in the ad on HD's site.

You only need the taller windshield replacement, you can use all your old hardware. These are all over Ebay. A used seat and backrest in good shape (Corbin, Mustang, etc.) off the same and you're good to go. And you won't regret buying a used bike later - every twin-cam FLHR is virtually identical, trust me on this one!
