All I would say is Don't compromise. The last thing you want to do is spend the money and then wish you would have picked the other one. I bit the bullet and bought a Streetglide and I love it.

I am at war within myself regarding these two models (StreetGlide and the Electra Glide Classic 2008). Wife says she will only ride short trips if any at all, so I won't need the tour pack lazy boy on the back very much. I love the look of the classic and can detatch the tour pack and seat. Nice to have all the bells and whistles out of the box side bag rails and passing lights. Then there is the Street glide with its perfect look for what I want when its just me riding. My question is, If your wife said she will ride only every now and then or if at all. Did she want to ride more after bike purchase? I only have a few months to decide, both bikes are beautiful but I can only have one. I need the opinions of those who had to contend in such a battle as this.

Here's my story. I love the SG but they didn't have the SG in 05 so I bought the Classic and have slowly transfomed it into a SG. I figure I've got the best of both worlds.

It's not the latest picture but you get the idea.

Rick

To thine ownself be true.

You like the SG so buy it.

The EGC is probably a more "practical choice" but a Harley ain't supposed to be the family station wagon.

PS I love my EGC and I guess buesty is in the eye of the looker.

Bought the EGC for me & my bride for touring, thinking I would add the hardware for quick tour pack detach. Well, we do tour & the tour pack is great. But, guess what, I'm hooked on the tour pack for solo riding as well. Great to have the extra storage space for anything you want to take along, no matter how long or short the ride. Plus, makes going to the store fun. Leave the cage at home & take the EGC.

It's hard to say what your lady will do after she rides a few times, could go either way. Go with what you like and add on if you need to. From what it sounds like I would go with the SG and add. You aren't talking that much more $$. JMO and .02 cents. You can see what I chose to get.

Let us know how it turns out for you.

I was in the exact same place two months ago. Except: My wife rides her (Brand new) own Wideglide so the two up thing wasn't a big issue. We do more shorter trips but are planning on doing some touring this year. I loved the look of the SG...But, it was way cheaper to get the classic to look like the sg than the other way around. I got the quick detach for the tourpak....Detachable sissy bar.....And now I like the saddlebag rails and I'm planning on leaving them on.....As for the rear end...I don't see it so I'm fine the way it is......You can't go wrong either way but I used the $ I would've spend adding a tour pak on a color matched inner fairing and some other goodies......PS....The classic looks great with the TP off and the sissy bar with the drivers backrest......

I too was in the same boat. Having already owned a SG I knew what I liked. But I also wanted a tour pak. Almost pulled the plug on an EGC. But I put it all down on paper and found it would cost just as much to make the EGC look like a SG than it would be to add a tour pak and passenger floor boards to the SG. The passing lamps didn't play into it because they were a freebie in the deal.

What are you thoughts about pinstripes? If you like them then go EGC, if you don't then SG. There is just something about the really clean look of the SG.
