Has anybody ever wrapped their exhaust with exhaust wrap then put heat shields over it to cover up the wrap? I'm trying to get the heat down on theGF's right foot. On the 08 ultra it's getting to much for her, I've been thinking of removing the heat shield off the rear pipe and wrapping it to reduce the heat till it goes into the main pipe and trying to reinstall the factory heat shield on it. Would it work? or do I have to much time on my hands?

 

You never know till you try it.

 

It won't work, the wrap results in too large of a diameter to reinstall the shields. You might put them on, but shields only work with a gap between them and the pipe. Don't worry about it.......wrap gives you an extra ten HP.

Instead, address the cause of the heat..................factory lean condition.

 

i did it for that exact reason worked fine got a roll of 1 inch natural exaust wrap at napa for about 10 bucks just used it on cross over. it didnt help alot but her boots dont melt any more cant even see it under heet sheild. but........pc111 and no more heat issues.
