As you have guessed by now Harley gas gauges are not very accurate. I use my trip odo as a gauge. Now for the real question. Who is burried in Grants tomb?

Don't spend your prize money just yet. My old '96 RK was rated at 5-gal, which is the same tank I have on my '07 SG, and it checked it by draining it, then refilling quart by quart. It held 5.4 gal, and many times I added more than 5 gal. at the pump. I wouldn't presume the new 6-gal. tank is exactly six gallons.

 

Depends if you have a 6 gallon split tank do the math 6 gal. x 2 sides = 12 gallons............plus what the reserve holds of course.

R&D for HD is amazing.

 

Its actually a 4.5 gallon tank with an air gap (space between cell and outside metal) around the fuel cell to keep the gas cool because the motor runs so hot.

 

all HD guages are junk..

air, fuel, oil and voltage!!!

ever put a "real" volt meter on ur battery ??

Like everyone else said, don't trust the HD fuel gauge, it's junk. I use my mileage, I know I get 43 mpg so I know how many mileI cango before looking for fuel... it all depends on your driving habits too... Good luck... "D"
