I have a pair of 12" 412's on my EGC. I did it to lower the bike an inch. Ride is about the same, maybe a little firmer.

I recently installed a set of Progressive 440's on my 04 Road King and am very pleased with the improvement, Maybe a firmer ride at slower speeds but so much more in control over bumps and rougher roads. Now the forks seem to be the weak link.I understand there are better shock out there for quite a lot more money though.

I replaced my 08 Street Glide air shocks with 11" 412'S Being short I needed the bike lower. The 412's lowered the bike about 5/8 of an inch at the seat. The ride is firmer but where you notice it more I think is on the rebound after a bump. I toyed with the other progressives that offer adjustment for rebound but the cost was high. The ride with these is better than the lowering block alternative.

Progressives front and back. 11 1/2" 440's in the back and 1" lowering springs in the front.

Made a big difference in my 04 Road Glide. I wouldn't say firmer but way better on big *** bumps and pot holes. All around better.

I am thinking of putting on the progressive 440's (11.5")on my 07 street glide. What is the difference between the 412's & 440's. I need to lower the bike since I am short. How does the bike handle with a passenger as for ride quality and bottoming out?

I have a "test" road that is very uneven and bumpy as can be, you can bottom out anytime if you go fast. I would ride back and forth on the road and make adjustments to the factory shocks so as to stop any bottoming at what I felt was normal to encounter while riding, except the unforseen stuff. Once I had them set for that load I remember the pressure and set them there. I came up of course with different pressures depending upon the load. With the progressives I have not fully ran them on my "test" road fully to get a feel for where I need to set the spring preload collar so perhaps they are a little firm because I have not backed them off fully. I can tell this though with the heavy duty sprin installed and the preload at about 1/4 firm I have experienced no bottoming yet. I weigh around 250 and I took my 220 pound kid for a ride only on normal streets and the ride was great without any bottoming either. Overall the shock performs what I feel is much more in control than stock no matter what pressure they were set at. No harshness and choppy bucking on terrible roads and the rear feels more planted to the ground over bumps. It sort of floats over bumps and dips at highway speeds and does not bounce the rear up either.Hard to describe for me but they are better than stock and it has made the shortcomings of the front forks more apparent where before both front and rear worked about the same.Hope someone can get some good info out of all this blather!!!!
