Default Exhaust wrap?

I'm looking for a cheap alternative to change the appearance of my Ultra. Has anybody got photos of their bike with some black wrap on the pipes?

My 03 rhinoglide with wrapped exhaust, looking a little ratty.

how does the wrap help with the heat coming off the pipes?

It does at least as good a job as heatshields. You still don't want to touch them. It also helps that my Thunderheader has been done with Jet Hot coating.

Yes, to some extent. If you get your leg or hand against it, you'll get a warning the damn thing is hot, rather than leaving skin.
You really don't want to wrap a good set of pipes. Get a set that you don't mind ruining. Moisture will build up in the wrap and will eventually rust them.
If all you can get is the yellowish colored wrap, go ahead and wrap them, and shoot the wrap with high heat (1300 deg or higher) paint of your choice of color (pink anyone?)
FYI, the idea of wrapping your pipes is to get the exhaust to flow faster. If you can keep the exhaust the same temp at the end of the pipe as it is when it comes out of the head, it will flow faster, thus, more horsepower. That works for open , stepped megaphone racing pipes. Don't know about muffled exhaust systems, I never tryed it. My .02
