Fuel Management Question

RE: Fuel Management Question
Ask to speak to the Service Manager and/or General Manager. If either of them tells you the SERT voids your engine warranty they are LYING to you--and I almost never suggest someone is lying; but when a GM and or SM tells you that, they absolutely know better.
The SERT isn't a piece of hardware; it simply allows the ECM that controls your fuel injectionand ignition timing to me modified to safely operate non-stock modifications to the bike, such as, exhaust, a/c, etc.
Sadly, you may have a dealer that doesn't have a dyno or a competent person to operate it so they steer you away from the SERT.
If that's the case, I'd pass on adding any of the accessories, buy the SERT from Zanotti's or other 20% off list dealer, and take the bike to another HD dealer.
If you read the box that the SERT comes in, it says its use MAY void the factory warranty--which makes sense since misuse of the device can result in changes to the ECM that damge the engine--but that would onlyoccur at the hands of an incompetent tuner/owner.
TMAX and DTT don't currently have a device for the '08, throttle by wire on the touring models.
Good luck.

Just got finished talking to the dealership. Apparently using a SERT will void my engine warranty as it is supposed to be for "off road" use only.

Let's make sure we understand what they are "trying" to tell/sell you.... A third partypiggy-back stryle tuner (FuelPak) is OK, but a SERT will void your warranty.
I think the bast bet would be to find a different dealership ~ one thatis honest and will not attempt to take advantage of customers they "think" do not know what's going on.

RE: Fuel Management Question
One of the four Harley dealerships here in Ontario I just called told me that they would honor the warranty with a SERT installed. The rest insisted that the warranty would be voided. Even the shop that said they would still honor the warranty told me that "technically the other dealers were correct". Unfortunately my new Ultra just arrived at one of the shops that won't let me install without voiding. So . . . what should I know about the Fuel Pak? Why does everyone say it's no good for anything other than a Stage I build?

RE: Fuel Management Question
The TMAX is a very nice piece of equipment,if you can use a labtop you can use a TMAX no problem,I recently went to a 107 with different cams and heads so I loaded another map before Ihad the work done at my dealer and its been perfect, even my dealer was amazed. No dyno time,no pounding the motor.

RE: Fuel Management Question
Perhaps you can take your bike to the one dealership that is willing to work with you...???..
The reason the fuelpak is basically a Stage I unit is that it allows no ability to adjust timing. It's a fuel management device. If / when you venture into additional mods, things like compression changes and cam timing changes will need ignition timing mods too....
To the best of my knowledge, there is no Tmax for the 08's, but I do know for sure that it will hose the HD warranty.
Get yourself the SERT from the dealer willing to work with you!
