Xtrooper the BMWs and I believe the Hondas still have the linked braking ABS meaning you can get on one brake and the computer will equalize the brakes correctly between the front and back which the HD's dont do yet.

RE: Police & Harleys
it just does not seem right not seeing a motor officer on a harley .its a tradition for 100 years .its like changing baseball as a national sport or apple pieand icecream to something else.as you get older tradition seems to mean more as we are loosing everthing else..when i was a kid in the 50ties seeing a motorofficer on a harley was like looking a knight in shinning armour.thats what got me hooked on police harleys which i ve been riding for about 48yrs now..good luck to our future and remembering the past

Little Rock police still riding HDs, North Little Rock police (seperate city) uses both HD and BMW. About a year ago I was at a BMW/Triumph dealership and one of the reps told me BMW was having a lot of electrical problems with their new technology. I wonder if the departments using BMWs has encountered this problem.

It's my understanding that the Harley Police Bike comes with a little higher compression motor (piston change only)thus causing the starter to work harder to crank the bike. This is what I have read on this site. Damn shame that Moco doesn't add the higher amp starter too. Go figure....it's all about replacement parts. Some dealers will tell you that is more than half of their profit to stay in business.

The higher compression is not from piston change. The 07-08 cop bikes are 103" standard, some departments negotiate for 110's. The added compression is from increased bore. MOCO added compression releases to remedy starter issues. I give our local Sheriff's Department one every year for patrol and they have no complaints. Maybe it's because I don't charge them?
