great way to spend your hazard pay ! Nothing more AMERICAN than a vet on a harley. Think of your new RG as a recruit stepping off the bus at boot camp - full of potential. It can be whatever you want it to be. I would recomend you have your dealer do the air cleaner, pipes and fuel management before you pick it up. You deserve a bike that runs and sounds great.Stay safe for the next couple of weeks. THANK YOU for your service.

Thank you for your service. Congrats on the new ride. No need to jump right in and mod your bike but more than likely you will mod it at some point.

Get home safe and enjoy the freedom you have worked so hard for.

Thanks for your service and congrats on the new bike.

Kept it stock if that's what floats your boat.

Stage 1 and power commander made 2 up riding more enjoyable and helped with the heat. Pipes gave me thatcertain sound I wanted to hear. My cars never stay the way I bought them off the lot so my other mods to my bike are just me being me.

I am a company commander stationed here in Iraq. I just bought an Anniv. RG and will pick it up in about two weeks after this 15 month deployment. I have talked to several people and read some threads about the bike. Most people talk about replacing mufflers, intakes, basically getting a Stage 1 kit. I sold my '99 Buell Lightening X-1 because the thrill of hugging corners and lightening speed off the line fell back seat to taking it easy and kicking a few hundered miles to my road trips. I thought that Harley made a great bike and it seems that most people are wanting to make the bike what it wasn't designed for.

I am a bit of a purist and I guess I am asking why so many people modify a brand new bike?Is it all personnal preference or is there really something to the performance difference of highway miles between stock and modified?
Bedellb,

Thank you & your folks for preserving our Freedom !!! Pls be safe............& Welcome to the forums from Wisconsin !!!

You'll see that HDs are like no other bikes out there.......it's all about the individuality !! Some folks go to town w/ mods, chrome, leather etc....some leave it bone stock.......what ever floats your boat (& it's all good )

Me, I added the below mods for improved drivability, heat reduction, performance & exhaust tone.

WD
