I talked with with a Harley salesman and questioned him about what I have read here. He use to be a service writer for a car dealership. This is what they would do for squeaking breaks. They have also tried it on bikes. Take off the break pad and apply heavy grease to the back side of the pad and that should take care of the squeal. (remember NOT on the front of the pad.. ON the back side of the pad)

You guys are getting this grease thing all wrong. The lubricant looks like grease but it is a compound that, when dried puts a silicone "connection" & isolator on the back side of the pads, where the pistons contact the pad. Regular grease will turn to liquid and run lubricating your pads. Something you do not wish to do. A sample of one of the many products available in photos. This is not a endorsement for this or any brand but a much warranted safety announcement. Do not use regular grease!

Hi All, My 08 Ultra \\;has a squeal in the rear brake and the dealer says Harley is coming out with a fix or statement or something soon. I guess the Bremco brake is at fault. \\;I'm gonna wait to see if a warranty fix might be coming. \\;The problem seems too widespread for Harley to continue to ignore? \\; \\;

I JUST got done with this very same problem!!!!!! My 04 EGC developed a rear brake squeal for 4 days and when I got home that night I put it up on the stand and found the inner pad was TOTALLY gone and the outer was 98% gone!!! \\; \\; The bike had only 9700 miles on it. \\; The rotor was etched past any type of saveing. \\; I wound up getting creamic brakes and a Russell rotor from FogHollow and had it in less than 48hrs of ordering!!!! \\;Noise gone. \\;

I heard the same thing from a dealer down in VA this week. \\; My squeal has gotten quieter with 5000 miles on it.

Mine does squeal but it does have a sound like the pads are wore out. Like metal on metal. There is plenty of pad left. I can touch the brake and it stops for 20-30 seconds and starts again. Anyone know if there a problem with pistons on the Brembos
