Steel Toed Boots

RE: Steel Toed Boots
I guess it all depends on luck and the situation.. I just had a buddie get into an accident wearing steel toed boots.. (broke his ankle etc.) And the Doc's told him he would have lost toes without them..!!
December 30 1977 Colorado Springs, Colorado. 7:30 pm... I was riding home on my Honda 400/4 Super Sport, when a woman just pulled out in front of me at an intersection (my light was green-doing 30 mph).. Skidded and tried to miss her but caught my right foot against her bumper.. Broke my Talus and 5 metatarsels.... Army boots.. no steel toe..
I am looking for a decient pair of steel toe pull-ons.. (now)

I don't wear steel toed boots as they make my feet feel colder when its cold out.

I wear steel toe loggers year round, they've saved my toes from being cut off with my saw a few time,I like the georgia super loggers, vibram, goretex, steel toe, cambrell lining. I buy them for work, but live in them 7days a week, there that comfortable. like a pair of boots for just riding, but just not worth the coin they ask for them. when it comes to steel toe boot the conversation will always be 6 of 1 & 1/2 dozen of the other. no happy medium.

I just got a pair of Converse Tactical boots for work, needing a saftey toe. The saftey toe is composite though and not steel, so none of that drawbacks to "steel" toes ie; condcuted heat/cold or the weight. Most comfortable boots off the shelf I have ever owned.

Safe toes that are warm sounds good to me. I'll buy a pair.

Definitely steel toed boots. I went down in Dec., slid on the asphalt for 15-20 ft, took the leather on my left boot all the way down to the steel. Most motorcycle accidends result in ankle and foot injuries. Protect yourself as much as possible.
I kept the boots as a reminder.Still wear them.
Haven't noticed the "cold in the winter " thing.

From my recent experience of having my foot ripped off my leg, I was told by the doctors that if I had been wearing steel toed boots, I would've lost all my toes as well. Having the foot reattached was tough enough... wouldn't want to have to deal with the 5 friends too!
I would agree for most situations, they would be fine. However, there is that chance. I do wear boots, but not steel toed. Just my $.02
