RE: I need some one new to ride with
Isshinryu, You are a true friend. Let me tell you about mine. Charlie and I traveled, built hotrods and even shared motels and vacations together for over 25 years. Our families were together weekly. He came down with stomach cancer and with all the treatments he slowly got weaker after a year. The last time I went to visit him, he was so weak he couldn't walk. He wanted to go out to the shop/garage one more time. I carried him out there and set him on his stool by the work bench. He told me he had days to live..... After we talked for a while, I carried him back in the house. He went into a coma late that night. Two days later, my wife and I was at his bedside when he left this world. That was 10 years ago and the pain of loosing a good friend is still there. Some people will never know the meaning of true friendship. Dan

Stick with him,,,,, you have already proven to both he and his family what a friend you are. You dropped your life for his...The worse thing you can do at this point for him is too abandon what you had. It might be hard to for awhile, but it will come back around. Having dealt with many with this Disease...and Yes Substance abuse is a disease, If he wants help he will accept is. If not you have to say to yourseld every day. I,m here, and when hes ready he will be too.
Good Luck and I wish there were more friends like you around for as many times I have had to presume dead,,,,because no one was friend enough to help. Nice work

My friend and riding buddy now hates my guts....he just called me and told me I was everything but a child of God.

Don't you have enough problems on your own, already?

In his eyes, you are everything but a child of God.
That is until the chemical embalance is taken care off. Or whatever he might be on, is out of his system, and he stay's clean. Yah did the right thing, he is getting help, and hopefully will continue to get help, and recieve counsling.
And yes, believe it or not he will need his family, friends, for support.

Also lost a good friend about two years ago to cancer. The best day we had at the end was on the golf course. He was a notoriously slow golfer and it would always drive me nuts. It was driving me nuts that day until I realized that is was probably the last day we would be out together. He was sober for 18 yrs and I'm sure there were times priorthat he wasn't the greatest friend to anyone. I did see him stickwith people no matter how bad off they were, with the hope that in time they would get on track. Isshinryu give your buddy half a chance. He will most likely still have a few negative things to say, just let it go. You did a good thing last night and if your bud gets straight he will let you know.

man, drugs will mess you up!! I had my fill of 'em when I was young - if you can name it, I probably tried it - and finally got away from that crap when I was in my early twenties. I finally realized that I'd either end up dead or on jail and they just weren't worth that. Went though lots of crap getting off of them but stayed off once I got off. I still drink (too much...) but never drive/ride after drinking. Your Bud was out of his mind - it wasn't him yelling at you. I bet he'll come around once he sobers up a bit. Now for the hard work...how to keep him off the ****?
