Default 150 rear tire ??

Hi folks,
I read elsewhere that adding a 150 rear tire is nothing more than a pulley spacer and possibly trimming the plastic belt guard. I'd like to do this to my '93 FLHS if thats all thats involved. Anyonehave any info of this topic??

Thanks

Nick56 is right. With your year of bike you might be able to put a 140 on. Keyword is MIGHT.

Thanks guys,
I appreciate your input . What is the big diff in the final drive of the '93 compared to say a 2000?

Pingel makes this spacer for 2000 + model years.

Give them a call. Maybe they can tell you why this spacer wouldn't work on your year! Who knows. Maybe it would.

BS.....i run a 150 on my 06 SG with no probs....have since it was new....no spacer....no rub, altho it is close....your bike is the same frame as mine....my setup is a 150/18 Metz....it rates lower for load but i have been loaded all the way from Texas to Colorado with tour pack and wifey with no probs....final drive is accomplished with either the primary pulleys or the countershaft/rear pulleys...they are the same from 00-03

difference in years --- you can do up to a 160 (remove the belt guard) on a SG

His bike is a 93!
I have a 03 and am running a 140/90/16 with no problems...I think 2000-2003 run a 1 1/2 belt 2004-2005 or 06 run 1 1/8 belt thats the reason the newer bikes an run a larger tire..

Yup! The narrower belt and pulley is why they run a wider tire from the factory.
I ran a 140 Metz on my '02 for a year, but noticed the belt was actually just touching the sidewall enough that it "polished" the area. Went back to a 130.
