08 SG shocks on a 07 RK Police?
I'm looking tolooking to use 08 SG rear shocks on my 07 RK Police. Since we can't use the search feature, I figured I'd ask. Can I throw stock length 07 or 08 SG rear shocks on my 07 FLHP? According to Progressive,FLHRs are 13" shocks and according to HD.com lowering shocks "won't lower FHLRCs or FLHXs." My thinking says the SGs are 12" thus, lowering my skoot about 1". Any input would be appreciated.

FLHX and FLHRS came with the lowered shocks. FLHRC came with standard. I put the Profile shocks on mine and it helped. I would say the shocks are the same, maybe not internally but the length. Either buy a good set of used FLHX/FLHRS shocks from someone who took care in plugging them when taking them off or buy the profile lowering shocks and get em from Zannoti's for 20% off.

I did the same thing you are talking about - put Street Glide shocks on my '07 Road King. They fit perfectly, and gave a good slammed appearance. The reduced travel became noticeable when travelling two-up as they would bottom out unless I put 25 lbs of air in them, and then they were a bit harsh. But overall, I thought they were a good option since I was looking for the appearance improvement and mostly ride solo.

Thanks guys.
Pastor John - You're situation is exactly like mine. I ride solo mostly, but do plan on weekend trips with the Mrs who's a huge HD fan. I wanted to keep the stock pneumatic set-up because I'm not a fan of lowering kits which "can" create added stress on the frame. I see guys around town who ride two up quite oftenon lowered SGs. Figured if they can lower 'em even more why couldn't a RK get lowered to their stock set up?[sm=confused06.gif] I thought about trying Progressives but past experience has shown themto bepretty harsh, especially two up. You wouldn't happen to have a part number for the SGs do you?

54662-02A FLHX shocks
$140 Chicago H-D
$126.68 Zannoti's H-D
54631-02B Profile lowering shocks
$220.76 Chicago H-D
$216.64 Zannoti's H-D
So this tells me that maybe the profile shocks are valved differently and are a step up from stock. I rode two up with mine for a few hours after install and never bottomed once with only 10# in them. Very happy with the Profile shocks.

Thanks JohnnyD. Those were my thoughts as well. So would you say your Profiles have a firmer ride than stock?
