I think everyone else has already said but there is nothing better than a quality insurance policy with a QUALITY provider because if someone wants it regardless of what you do they can get it but atleast you are not out of pocket.Just my .02

Of the 200 members of our chapter, not one has had a problem on the road at a motel. Now as far as home burglarys go, thats another story.

With 8 bikes on the road for our 9 day Sturgis trip, we didn't have a single problem... we stayed pretty budget and in some kinda ghetto places. I have to say, we get what we focus on most. I never have focused on being worried about my bike being stolen and I truly don't believe it is going to happen. It seems like most people are more respectful of motorcycles than cars too... I always leave my helmet hanging off the bars of my bike (no lock) and I've never had a problem. That being said... I always lock my neck lock for good measure and if I had an alarm, I would definately arm it before going to bed. I love the advice above... do your best, get good insurance and focus on having a great time.

Lock the bags, put the cover on and set the alarm.
Just make sure it's a Honda cover! That'll keep it safe!

I'm with the rest, make sure your insurance covers everything, lock it up, set the alarm (maybe invest in a Radio Shack audio alarm to add on), and enjoy your sleep!

The bike onthe left looks like a Low Rider.

It looks pretty good.

I have been on group overniters andand we have all chained our bikes together. But keeping good insurance is always the safest bet for a good nite sleep. And I don't have a harley cover, just a cheapy from WallyWorld.

Most of the losers that steal trinkets off bikes are looking for the quick
****** and grab. Generally they aren't going to pry open a saddle bag or
tour pack, not saying that couldn't be done though. This holds true whether
you own an HD or metric.

As long as the bike is locked up and in a visible lighted area you should be ok.

Don't leave the easy items out IE GPS, iPod etc. Alarm set if you have it,
using a cover is also a benefit.

I've traveled all over and never had any issues (touch wood), even in areas
where I was more worried about me getting robbed vs bike parts missing!

As someone already mentioned, if they want your stuff, they're going to get it.
Just try and make it inconvenient as possible.

fork lock ,chain around front tires and stay at a hotel with a bar your more likely to crash drunk or get a ticket then get your bike stolen
