I used to wear them on the Heritage, but don't have a need to with the Ultra. Now I just use them [ear plugs] for the campgrounds!

I do wear them on long rides because when I don't my ears will ring all day. For rides in town or short runs I don't bother. In the camp ground, YES or I would NEVER be able to sleep!

Yeah, all the time now. Too much loud rock and roll when I was young, too many years riding bikes, too many hours in small piston aircraft. I gotta conserve what I have, and I hate the buzzing in my right ear at night when I don't wear the plugs. I'm even contemplating keeping the stock pipes on my 08 SG to keep the beating on the ears to a minimum...

Yea, custom molded ones. They go in easy.Used to use the foam ones but they didn't always go in right, then it was worse than without. And what do you do then, make your friends pull over while you play with your earplugs?

I'm an audiologist and cannot place enough emphasis on wearing ear protection. I see patients all day long that suffer from hearing loss and I can tell you without hesitation, there's not a one that wouldn't want to have their natural hearing restored.
It's tough enough to loose your hearing due to age but it doesn't make sense to escalate that process for example through industrialsituations. I see a few truck drivers that have lost hearing from years on the road and are not able to get their license renewed.
With that said I have to admit that I am sometimes guilty of notwearing my custom ear plugs cause I figure I'm only going for a short ride. I should take my own advice.
If you are considering wearing ear protection, go to a local hearing aid center and ask to have impressions taken of your ears. Custom ear plugs are the best. They are comfortable and actually allow you to hearyour tunes better than when wearing no protection. They should only cost about $50.
Look at it this way, if you loose your hearing you may be wearing ear plugs all the time in the form of hearing aids.
just my 2 cents

I can hear my radio better with them and the wind noise goes away.
