Yes 40.000$ for a new Ultra is very much. Tax (VAT) is8.000$ Toll is 1.920$ Then HD Europeare charging a lot for freight and distribution.
The VAT is normal swedish. There is no extra luxury TAX.
Harleys are overpriced and costs much more that japanese bikes. On the other hand, the trade-in value is much higher than for jap bikes. I would probably get 32.000$ for my 2005 Ultra if I trade it in to a new ultra ( I payed 34.200$ for it last year). With a jap bike I would have lost more.

But even worse are the prices on parts. They are about 4 times higher in Europe. So when I buy parts on internet from dealers in USA I pay twice your price after freight, VAT and Toll.

A new Volvo V70 costs from 44.375$ in Sweden. They are probably cheeper in USA too.

2008 Volvo V70 list price is $33210 without options or tax, license fees etc. They could easily hit close toover $40,000 after everything is included. A fully loaded model is over $46,000..... ouch....
