Default 2 washer needle fix

TC 88. If I bring my CV carb from a 2005 FLHT back to stock from a dyno jet kit. Keep the SE pipes, SE AC, and add 2 washers to the standard needle jet. Use 46 jet slow speed and 190 jet high speed. What will happen to the performance since I can't remove the enlarged hole in the slide. Also should I use the old spring or the kit spring.

I can't understand why you'd want to take the DJ kit out. Without the DJ kit, my bike pinged when hot and under a load. No amount of needle shimming would help, even with the Sportster needle. The DJ kits work, but you have to leave the pilot jet stock.

The reason I would like to remove the kit is because my mileage dropped to 36 mpg and my plugs indicate that I am running much to rich.

I run a 190 main - 48 pilot at 1.75 turns out, 1 round of the slide spring cut off and a washer under the stock needle. I have the stage 1 K&N filter, wild pig slip-ons and the bike runs fine. I had a FXDWG with the dyno-jet kit and stage 1. With the DJ needle and DJ emulsion tube I had the same issue as you. My RK runs great and returns 45-46 mpg in current trim.

Best of luck with whatever you try.

Later and ride safe,
Nailz

If you're running too rich, fix it. That's the advantage of running a carburetor instead of the fuel injection. Is your pilot jet the stock 45? If not, change it. Is your main jet too large? Change it. Is it too rich in the middle? Lower the needle (raise the clip) to the middle position. My DJ kit gives me 41 MPG riding double.

Nailz,

Thanks, for the info. Did you drill out the slide and is it still that way?
