I have some very minor pitting in the chrome on my primary cover. Very hard to notice, but it's there. My question is: Will the dealer replace this part under warrenty for an issue like this?
They might. Depends on whether you live in a coastal or area that uses salt on the roads.also on how long you have had the bike. You stand a good chance.
I'm going to contact the service department tomorrow and ask. I bought the bike on 1/12/08. You can't hardly see the pitting, but I know it's there now and it'll bug me. Also, I'm worried that the chrome will eventually start peeling...
They replaced my saddlebag guard without question, for the chrome turning. If they give ya a hard time, maybe you could offer to do the labor end of it as a compromise but you should have to live with poor chrome job.
I had the same problem with my wheels. Dealer had to take pictures and send them to MOCO, and of course they said "sorry your problem". Now, I live in AZ and the bike is in the garage and clean alllllll the time. The bike had sat for a few months in the garage during the summer and after reading on here I believe it is caused by theshtty brake padsthat harley supplies. The dealer had me call MOCO direct and they basically blew me off. When I asked to speak to a manager the customer svc rep said "this has issue has been viewed by 2 peole at MOCO and CAN NOT be escalated any higher". My opinion at this point is I will NOT buy another piece of chrome from Harley after the way I was treated.
Hey Silverbak, I got my 2008 FLHX Street Glide on Dec. 1, 2007. I noticed the same problem yesterday when cleaning and polishing mine! I live a long way from the coast and have not been near the salt water with it. I am going to polish it with orange Wenol and see what happens.
