Default Installing chrome passenger floorboard covers?

Bought a set of these awhile back and since its been raining and cold all weekend thought today might be a good day to install them.

Directions say you must remove the entire footboard and mount to install these. To me it looks like it would be easier to do it while they are mounted firmly to the bike.

Anybody try it this way?

I just put a set on my new scoot. I did it without taking the boards off. Simple job. Use a little WD-40 on the screws on first install makes cutting the threads easier.

Just installed a set on my Ultra, in the pic. I left em on, marked the whole tapped it and then sprayed a little wd40 in the hole. The self tapping screws worked well. Like a "3" on the difficulty scale.

Wow!!
The instructions didn't include disconnecting the battery first? lol

When I put those on, I did it in place.
As mentioned above, use WD-40 or some oil when tightening those self tapping screws

They do look better than the plain flat black boards

No need to remove the floorboards, just drill, oil the threads, and finish it up.

Thanks guys, thats what I figured. Harleys directions seem to be notorious for making things far more complicated than they need to be.

Don't ask me how I know this, but the right size drill bit is 3/16" NOT 3/8"!!!

That's one of the next "bling" items on my list - chrome pass board covers...

Did you guys see CREEPSHOWs FB cover idea? I was impressed (but that's easy to do too).
