Default Radio Amplifier Help

My son has a 2007 Streetglide and wants to replace the factory amplifier with a higher watt 4 ohm unit so he can run some higher watt 4 ohm speakers. Do any of you know if using a 4 ohm amp would hurt the 2 ohm H-D receiver or vice-versa?

You need to do a search , there are plenty of discussion of this very topic but search may be down right now using my limited electronics background I know if you put two resistors of equal value across a supply it sees these as half their value (two four ohm resistors in parallel = 2 ohms ) best I can help you with, however if you place them in series they add up to make 8 ohms so know the difference!

Default RE: Radio Amplifier Help

Dealer just installed the Hawg Wired in my 08 RoadGlide, used ARC speakers (comes with main speakers and tweeters which fit behind stock grilles) and acrossover (Speakers are 4ohms) on stock radio. Says he's done several no problem. I just moved up from the 03 Road Glideto the 08 and the sound is far better with the amp and speaker change. I can hear it with a full face at 70 MPH behind the KlockWerks windshield, haven't gone faster than that yet. I also went with the hidden electronic Dakota Digital antenna, sucks big time. Thank god for my Ipod.
