Bought a push button fuel door release today...looks like it won't work on the '08 because we are missing the screws under the cap? (PN# 53842-00B Fits 1992 and Up)

Anyone know? It gets frustrating when nothing fits....

 

I got one and it works fine. However, there was something I had to do differently from the directions, but I don't remember what it was! I'm sure someone will be along to fill in the blanks...

 

Ok so I have my lock off sitting here waiting....and I get...don't remember!?!?!?! hehehehe....that's my luck.

Been giving her the first real cleaning since I bought her and putting on some other Stuff. Got some RJ Originals for fried thieghs, smoking out the fender tips, cup holder. Need to get my highway pegs on but hubby has not been feeling well today and that I need help with.

 

You are right about the screw that is suppose to hold the spring clip in it... I bought one also and ended up taking it back, couldn't get it to work and didn't want to modify.. Harley is suppose be coming out with one just for the 08's and beyond... IF you look at the 08 SE bikes that do have the push button, you will notice that they have a spring load in the fuel door where that standard Ultra doesn't.... So I know that there is an upgrade for the 08's.... just hasn't been released yet

 

Put one on my 08 and it works perfect.....

 

What did you do about the screw? Does it pop up?

 

Put one on my 08 FLHX last week. Didn't bother with the spring clip thing, just replaced the lock with the button. So far there is plenty of "spring" in the original door hinge to pop it open no problem.

Didn't work. Button on the one I have didn't popup far enough for me to even push it?

Oh well...I guess I'll use the key for a bit.
